Kantanka Automobile Vehicle to Produce First Electric Car in Ghana:As The CEO Blast Ghana Govt for Lack of Support.

CEO Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Junior says Kantanka Automobile will produce electric cars on the Ghana market by December 2019 .

He says the company is growing and innovating as well , He also revealed the company now has a new headquarters in Dubai 

 Kantanka Motor angry and blast the government for its hasty approach  towards the VW German Agreement. 

The Chief Executive Officer of local car manufacturer, Kantanka has revealed the company is working hard to come out with its first electric car before the end of 2019. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Junior give the Ghanian Consumers Assurance  that Kantanka Automobile is ready to compete with latest trends and innovations across the globe.

 “By the end of this year, Kantanka will build electric cars that could travel between Accra to Kumasi before recharge. We intend to do that before this year ends,” he said in an interview on Starr Fm in Accra. 

He also noted that the company is expanding, with a new office in Dubai. ”Our company is fast growing and currently we have another headquarters at Dubai and the challenge there is healthy for us because they understand luxury and that is good for us 'he said'.


The Ghana Goverment Agreement with VW Motor German:

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has welcomed the decision by German car manufacturing giant, Volkswagen, to establish a vehicle assembly plant in Ghana.According to the President, an agreement between Volkswagen, the Government of Ghana, and a local Ghanaian company for the assembly, and, ultimately, the production of automobiles in Ghana has been reached, after a business meeting between officials from Ghana and a German business delegation.

In all of this, President Akufo-Addo indicated that “there are a lot of opportunities here, and we are hoping that this business delegation that you have brought with you will see the opportunities that there are in several of the flagship programmes of our government, the One-District-One-Factory, the industrial parks that we are determined to create.

Kantanka Motor Blast The Government:

Kantanka  automobile firm has blasted the Ghanaian Government since the German Chancellor paid a working visit to Ghana  last year 2018, and disclosed that German car manufacturing company VW have plans of setting up an assembling plant in Ghana and that the company is expected to begin operations in Ghana this year 2019, a deal which the government agreed to immediately.

This made Kantanka angry and blasted the government for its hasty approach of towards the VW agreement. And released a statement about the whole deal.

 Statement Below.


“We want to state emphatically that we welcome the news of VW setting up a plant here in Ghana. We are not against it. We are aware there will be competition, as there has always been and this is going to give us the marginal propensity to work hard and achieve our long-term goals for mother Ghana and Africa.

“However, we are of the view that government has hastily signed the agreement without broad stakeholder consultations.

“We are shocked to learn that the Ministry of Trade and Industry is part of this deal and want to question the Minister’s position in the promotion of trade and industry in Ghana vis-à-vis the local automotive industry.

 The  Company has the capacity to produce cars that will be affordable to Ghanaian and Africans in General.
