NIGERIA:See the amount of money and car EFCC seized from a suspected fraudster with the help of the court


Imagine someone driving around town in a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with sixty million Naira in its boot and when apprehended he claims not to have any details of the owner or how the money came to being.

Just then, Justice Fadima Murtala Aminu of the Federal HIght Court, sitting in Gusau,Zamfara state, on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, granted the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Sokoto Zonal Office, for the final forfeitures of N60,000,000 (Sixty Million Naira) cash recovered from the man named Mutarla Muhammed.

The commission's Sokoto Zonal Office had on Tuesday, My 28,2019, arrested him, when he was conveying the amount in four 'Ghan-Must-go' bag inside a Black Land Cruiser Prado jeep with registration No:DKA 67PX (Kaduna), at No. 134 I gala Hausing Estate, off By-pass Road Gusau, Zamfara State.
The judge also granted the final forfeiture o the federal government, of the Land Cruiser Prado which was the carrier of the money.

The court had earlier directed a publication in national dailies for any person or persons claiming the funds to come forward and defend such but no one show up.

Justice Fadima held that: "A final forfeiture order of this honorable court is hereby granted, forfeiting to the Federal Goverment of Nigeria the money sum of N60,000,000,00(Sixty Million Naira) and a Black Land Cruiser Prado Jeep which are reasonable suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity."
