President Nana Akufo-Addo today laid the foundation stone for the commencement of construction of the National Cathedral in Accra.

The Cathedral is expected to serve as the rallying point for the Christian community to come together to worship, to pray and to promote deep national conversations on the role of faith in building Ghana.
According to the Ministry of Information, it will house a Bible Museum, and be an iconic infrastructure for national, regional and international pilgrimage and tourism. It will be a monument to religious liberty. Its construction deserves the full support of the nation.
The Cathedral was designed by celebrated architect Sir David Adjaye, who says he drew inspiration from both Christian symbolism and Ghanaian heritage. He adds that the edifice would be a celebration of religion, culture and local traditions.

It would house impressive chapels and baptistery, a 5,000-capacity auditorium, grand central hall, music school, choir rehearsal and multi-use spaces, art gallery and a shop.
