West African gas pipeline to shut gas supply to its Tema customers for 10 hours

West African Gas Company Increases Capacity To 140mmscf Per Day ...

In a statement, the West African Pipeline Company (WAPCo) announced the planned shutdown of the gas pipeline next Sunday, for a duration of 10 hrs, between 4 am and 2 pm. Maintenance work will indeed be carried out on the infrastructure by Eni Ghana, which plans to better connect its delivery terminals. Consequently, WAPCo customers in Tema will be deprived of delivery during this period.

In Benin and Togo, the works will have no consequences on gas delivery.

“This judgment is supported by the Ministry of Energy and coordinated with the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo), the Volta River Authority (VRA), the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), the Electric Company of Ghana (ECG) and various other power plants to minimize the impact on communities that depend on electricity produced from gas carried by the West African gas pipeline system to Tema, ” said a company statement.

The company has apologized to its customers in the Ghanaian industrial zone for the inconvenience this will cause and promises that the gas supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the works.
