Ama Dansoa: charcoal Seller Received help from CfC

A mother of two boys, Ama Dansoa, has recounted her struggle in catering for her sons after their father abandoned them -

Dansoa ekes a living from selling charcoal but the profit from the sales is not enough to sustain the family of three -

The struggling mother and her children have received help from local charity Crime Check Foundation

A struggling mother, Ama Dansoa who sells charcoal with her speech-impaired son in Kasoa in the Central Region, has received help from Crime Check Foundation. Dansoa and her two kids with a physical disability that has impaired their speech, struggle to fend for themselves as their father has abandoned them. Her ex-husband neglected the family after their marriage hit the rocks.

The children were not born with the condition but she discovered they had developed the disorder when she went for them from their father.

In an interview with Crime Check Ghana, Dansoa disclosed that she couldn't believe her eyes when she first saw her dear children.

''I couldn’t believe it when I went for them from their father. The younger one was seven years old when he started exhibiting the condition. ''He can’t walk without help because his torso is heavier than his lower body and he can’t even speak,''

she said. Dansoa's 22-year-old son, Panin who is speech-impaired disclosed that he wants to learn how to fix glass doors and windows to help his mother. Despite the speech impediment, Panin supports his mother to cater to his younger brother. His deprived mother struggles to provide for them. They depend on the little profit she makes from the four bags of charcoal she sells every day. Dansoa was compelled to drag her former hubby to Court to force him to provide welfare support to the children after he abandoned them.

After the Court ordered her husband to support the upkeep of the children, he sent an amount of GHc500.00 and has since ignored them, she said. Life has, however, smiled on the neglected family of three as Crime Check Foundation (CCF) visited their home to donate on behalf of some anonymous donors.

The local charity paid the visit to Dansoa and her children during the festive season to put smiles on their faces.
