Amusan stormed through the final with a time of 12.29 seconds, finishing just behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who claimed gold in a blistering 12.24 seconds, setting a new national record for her country. The bronze went to Grace Stark of the United States, who clocked 12.34 seconds, while fellow American Masai Russell placed fourth with 12.44 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Amusan had already made her mark by dominating the semifinals. She surged to victory in her heat with a confident 12.36 seconds (-0.2 wind), outpacing Nadine Visser of the Netherlands (12.45s) and Pia Skrzyszowska of Poland (12.51s).
