In a sweeping global study that tested over 1.35 million individuals across 50 nations, the latest International IQ Test Rankings have placed East Asia firmly at the top of the intellectual leaderboard. The results, updated as of January 1, 2025, reveal a compelling snapshot of cognitive performance across cultures, economies, and continents.

Top Performers: East Asia Dominates

Leading the rankings is China, with an average IQ of 107.19, followed closely by South Korea (106.43) and Japan (106.4). These nations have long been recognized for their rigorous education systems, high literacy rates, and cultural emphasis on academic excellence—factors that may contribute to their consistent performance in global intelligence metrics.

Iran (106.3) and Singapore (105.14) round out the top five, showcasing the intellectual strength of regions often underrepresented in traditional Western-centric analyses.

The Global Spread

The top 10 countries include a mix of Asian, European, and Oceanic nations:

| Rank | Country | Average IQ |

| 1 | 🇨🇳 China | 107.19 |

| 2 | 🇰🇷 South Korea | 106.43 |

| 3 | 🇯🇵 Japan | 106.4 |

| 4 | 🇮🇷 Iran | 106.3 |

| 5 | 🇸🇬 Singapore | 105.14 |

| 6 | 🇷🇺 Russia | 103.16 |

| 7 | 🇲🇳 Mongolia | 102.86 |

| 8 | 🇦🇲 Armenia | 102.58 |

| 9 | 🇦🇺 Australia | 102.57 |

| 10 | 🇪🇸 Spain | 102.3 |

Notably, Sri Lanka (102.02) and Thailand (101.52) also made strong showings, reflecting a broader trend of rising intellectual scores in Southeast Asia.

Western Nations: Holding Steady

While no Western country cracked the top five, many still posted solid scores. Canada (101.65), France (101.42), and Italy (100.84) remain above the 100-point benchmark. The United States, often a focal point in global education debates, ranked 30th with an average IQ of 99.74.

🧪 Methodology & Scope

The rankings are based on standardized IQ tests administered to 1,352,763 individuals in 2024 via a unified online platform. While IQ is only one measure of cognitive ability—and often debated for its cultural bias and limitations—the scale offers a comparative lens into global education, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.

🔍 Beyond the Numbers

Experts caution against interpreting IQ scores as definitive indicators of national intelligence. Factors such as access to education, nutrition, healthcare, and socioeconomic stability play critical roles in shaping cognitive development.

Still, the data offers valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers seeking to understand and improve intellectual outcomes across borders.
