Kremlin Accuses Europe of Undermining Trump’s Peace Efforts in Ukraine

Moscow, Russia  : In a striking statement that reignites geopolitical tensions, the Kremlin has accused European powers of obstructing former U.S. President Donald Trump’s alleged efforts to broker peace in Ukraine. The claim, delivered by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, paints a picture of a divided West and a Russia still committed to its military campaign until Kyiv signals genuine willingness to negotiate.

“We are ready to resolve the problem by political and diplomatic means,” Peskov told Russian state media. “But so far we do not see reciprocity from Kyiv in this. So we shall continue the special military operation.”

The remarks come amid ongoing conflict that began in February 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a full-scale invasion of Ukraine following years of unrest in the eastern Donbas region. Despite international condemnation, Russia maintains control over nearly one-fifth of Ukrainian territory.

A War of Narratives

While Moscow insists it is open to peace talks, European leaders remain skeptical. Many argue that Putin’s repeated declarations of readiness for dialogue are undermined by his refusal to relinquish occupied territories. The European Union has consistently maintained that any peace must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Putin and Trump

The Kremlin, however, blames what it calls the “European party of war” for stalling diplomatic progress. This narrative positions Trump who has previously claimed he could end the war swiftly if re-elected as a potential peace broker, despite widespread criticism of his foreign policy record.

Escalation on the Ground

On the battlefield, Russia’s momentum appears to be accelerating. Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov recently stated that Russian forces are now advancing at a rate of 600–700 square kilometers per month nearly double the pace seen earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the human toll continues to mount. According to U.S. estimates, over 1.2 million people have been killed or injured since the war began, with millions more displaced across Europe.

The Bigger Picture

This latest Kremlin statement is more than a diplomatic jab—it’s a strategic move in the information war. By invoking Trump and blaming Europe, Moscow seeks to fracture Western unity and shift the narrative away from its own accountability.

As the conflict grinds on, the question remains: Is peace truly on the table, or is it just another pawn in a global game of power and perception?
